Living healthy is so much more than avoiding disease. Many of us are walking around like ticking time bombs while inside of us, our bodies are struggling to be healthy despite poor nutrition and self-care. The time to ensure good health is now! I have a variety of tools to discover the root causes of symptoms such as:

Headaches

Fatigue or feeling tired frequently

Weight gain

Skin problems

Cravings

Anxiety

Irritability

Depression

Digestive problems

Acid reflux

Poor immune system

These are all signs that your body is undergoing internal stress. Internal stress can be anything from eating the wrong diet for your Metabolic Type® to having an overgrowth of yeast or bacteria in your gut. These stressors will not go away on their own. They will continue to take their toll on your health unless you intervene. Restoring your health is as simple as taking 3 steps:

Get tested for your Metabolic Type® and food sensitivities.

Start eating the right foods for your unique body and stop eating the wrong foods.

Get a Basic Health Intake to assess the health of your adrenal glands, digestion, detoxification ability, and immune system by taking a Functional Adrenal Stress Profile (#205-B) and Metabolic Assessment Profile (#101).

I offer these tests and many more. Together, we can get to the bottom of your health complaints and start you on the path to feeling your best.

Testing Services

Functional Adrenal Stress Test: The # 205 Adrenal Stress Profile is testing your hormone and immune system function. The cortisol and DHEA measurements at these times tell us how well your adrenal glands are functioning. We also look at the main steroidal (sex) hormones, estradiol, estriol, progesterone and testosterone, and your sleep hormone melatonin. With this test kit, you will easily submit four saliva samples; morning, noon, evening and bedtime. This easy-to-use test kit includes four small vials for saliva collection. This kit comes with a pre-paid FedEx mailer for your convenience. Once mailed, Rebecca will receive your results from BioHealth Diagnostics within 10 business days and will contact you to schedule your Results and Recommendations phone session.

Poor adrenal and hormone function can result in the following symptoms:

anxiety, depression

immune system stress

sleep disturbances

thinning premature aging skin

poor concentration/memory lapses

heart disease/atherosclerosis

hot flashes

night sweats

osteoporosis

irregular menstruation

vaginal dryness

painful intercourse

slow healing

reduced libido

malaise/lethargy

unexplained weight gain

fatigue

loss of appetite/increased appetite

hair loss and dry skin

$225.00 includes lab fee, tax and FedEx shipping.

MRT Food Allergy Test:Is your food making you sick? If you experience any of the following symptoms, you most likely have food allergies at play. Take the LEAP (Lifestyle Eating And Performance) MRT Food Sensitivity Test and get back on tract with your health goals. The MRT LEAP Food Sensitivity Test is done through Signet Labs.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Migraine & Other Headaches

Chronic Diarrhea

Heartburn/GERD

Fibromyalgia

Arthrits

Joint Pain

Muscle Pain

Weight Imbalances

Chronic Fatigue

Chronic Sinusitis

Insomnia

Skin Eruptions

Autism/ADD

Click here to see a detailed brochure of the MRT test.

Click here for more info on the science behind MRT testing.

$75.00 plus lab fee

Mucosal Barrier Test: If you ever wondered how a dog can drink dirty water and not get sick - it’s the mucosal barrier! The mucosal barrier provides our first line of immune defense. It lines the gastrointestinal tract, from the mouth to the anus, and has been called our “second skin.” By testing its function, you will test how your gastrointestinal system could be compromised, and whether or not your immune system is doing its job.

A properly functioning mucosal barrier will:

Destroy pathogens (infectious agents) so they are unable to thrive in your body

Properly handle the balance of bacteria

Process food antigens

Prevent the onset of gastritis or leaky gut

Properly identifying and neutralizing foreign objects

How healthy is your Mucosal Barrier? Find out today! This easy-to-use test kit includes one small vial and requires the collection of your first morning saliva. This kit comes with a pre-paid FedEx mailer for your convenience. Once mailed, Rebecca will receive your results from BioHealth Diagnostics within 10 business days and will contact you to schedule your Results and Recommendations phone session.

$400 includes lab fee, tax and FedEx overnight shipping

Metabolic Assessment Profile: Your Digestion and Detoxification

This important test measures three aspects of your digestion and detoxification processes; Indican, Lipid Peroxides, and UBAS (Urinary Bile Acids). When the liver works too hard, it may become clogged and eventually spill MUC into the kidneys and out through the urine. This MUC is called urinary bile acid sulfates, or UBAS.When UBAS is elevated, the key is not only to use the proper protocols to cleanse and flush the organs of detoxification, but to find out WHY the liver was overloaded in the first place. Root causes may include:

Leaky gut syndrome

Poor diet

Food sensitivities

Adrenal fatigue

If your digestion and detoxification processes are compromised, it can lead to various acute or chronic conditions, such as:

heartburn/reflux

stomach pains/cramps

intestinal pains/cramps

constipation

diarrhea

bloating sensation

gas or any kind

nausea, vomiting

painful elimination

food cravings

depression

fatigue

dark circles

skin conditions

headaches

Do you have a balance of pro-oxidants and anti-oxidants? Your body is made up of 100,000,000,000,000 cells. It is the fighting power of antioxidants against pro-oxidants that keeps your cells, and therefore you, healthy and disease free. This test includes a measurement of your antioxidants versus pro-oxidants.

This easy-to-use test kit includes two small vials and requires the collection of your first morning urine. Each kit comes with a pre-paid FedEx mailer for your convenience. Once mailed, Rebecca will receive your results from BioHealth Diagnostics within 10 business days and will contact you to schedule your Results and Recommendations phone session.

$175 includes lab fee, tax and FedEx shipping

Other specialty testing available includes Candida Screening, GI Pathogens Test, Gluten and Wheat Sensitivity Test, Advanced Hormone Profile, and more!

I’ve been waiting, not with bated breath mind you but waiting nonetheless, for the day that scientists would discover the function of the appendix. I am a believer that the human body is an incredible machine and put together in a certain way because it needed to be so. Why then, when we don’t even understand how and why a piece of our machinery functions, do we cut it out if it gets inflamed? Ah, good old Western Medicine.

In the article below, it is explained that current understanding about the appendix is that it serves an important role as a reservoir for beneficial bacteria. With all of the intestinal disorders and parasitic infections we humans are prone to, it makes great sense to have a backup of these friendly bugs to help us function when things get tough. Proper bacterial colonization of our gut is essential for good health (warding off bad bacteria, production of certain essential vitamins, immunity, breakdown of micro and macronutrients, etc). We are better off supporting the function of our bodies as they are intended to function. If our appendices are becoming so inflamed that they burst, we must ask the question why.

We may have figured it out.

A key to understanding appendicitis is hygiene. We’ve become so fixated on killing germs and using anti-bacterial this-and-that that we now are developing hyper-sensitive reactions to germs that normally wouldn’t be a big deal for us to come into contact with. Talk about a Catch 22! In order to avoid getting sick, we sanitize like crazy…only to become so out of touch with how to deal with germs that we end up so inflamed that we need to have surgery. Yikes.

So anyway, that’s my summary. Put on your thinking caps and enjoy:

Darwin was wrong, say researchers at Duke University Medical Center, Arizona State University, and the University of Arizona: the human appendix is not a useless, evolutionary remnant of a larger structure. The appendix has a function, and the newfound understanding of its purpose may help researchers someday find a way to prevent appendicitis.

The first-ever study of the evolution of the appendix and information on its critical function has just been released in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology. This is a follow-up to a report from about two years ago, when investigators at Duke University Medical Center proposed that the human appendix serves as a storage area for beneficial bacteria that can be used to repopulate the intestinal tract (gut) when good bacteria levels have been depleted by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal conditions. The gut needs various microorganisms, including beneficial bacteria, for digestion to occur.

The appendix is a two- to four-inch long pouch that is located near where the large and small intestines meet. Scientists have long speculated about the function of the appendix, especially since it is populated with immune system tissue. William Parker, PhD, assistant professor of surgical sciences at Duke and the senior author of the current study, and his colleagues now believe that the immune system cells protect the beneficial bacteria in the pouch until they are needed by the intestinal tract.

Parker and the other researchers propose that in countries without modern sanitation practices and endemic diarrhea-causing diseases, the beneficial bacteria harbored in the appendix can emerge and enter the intestinal tract after diarrheal symptoms have emptied the bowels. In industrialized societies that have good hygiene practices, however, the stored beneficial bacteria may not be needed or needed rarely. This idea supports the fact that removing the appendix today has no apparent negative impact on the body.

Appendicitis, or inflammation of the appendix, may be the result of too much sanitation, commonly referred to as the “hygiene hypothesis.” This hypothesis suggests that people who live in sanitary societies suffer with high rates of allergies and other immune system disorders because their immune systems are not challenged enough. In other words, we are so clean that when something does attack the system, it can overreact, resulting in inflammatory conditions, such as appendicitis.

In a Science Daily report, Parker said that our new understanding of the appendix may help us prevent appendicitis if we can challenge the immune system today much like it was back in the Stone Age. If we can do that, he said, “we would see far fewer cases of allergies, autoimmune disease, and appendicitis.”
